This work we propose depicts a picturesque river landscape with architectural elements and female figures captured in a contemplative attitude. In the background, castles and a possible view of Rome are distinguishable, rendered with a scenic and harmonious taste. The work expresses the typical chromaticism and perspective volumes of the Roman school of the 18th century, of which Van Bloemen was the leading figure in landscape painting.
